Marion & Boubacar, Step House Hotel

Marion and Boubacar's wedding was probably my most enjoyable wedding of 2015. When we first met, I felt immediately at ease with them and I knew that working with them on their big day would be fun. They wanted the photos to look relaxed and natural with a minimum of posed shots, which is exactly my style. Both the ceremony and reception took place at the Step House Hotel in Borris, Co. Carlow. It was a new venue for me but I was well impressedMarion and Boubacar have a 14-year old son, Fallou, who spoke during the ceremony and was briefly spotted on the dance floor not long after the first dance - he had to be bribed to make an appearance! Boubacar is originally from Senegal and he had some of his family and friends over for the wedding. As some of them live in different places, they hadn't been all together in the one place for a few years so it was a real treat for them to be gathered for such a happy occasion. At dinner time, I was kindly offered to join the table where most of Baboucar's friends were sitting and I must say the craic was phenomenal! The morning preparations were fun, the bridal suite was very bright and large which made my job easier. There was some last-minute minor adjustments to Marion's dress - thank God for one of Marion's bridesmaid's nimble fingers! The ceremony was beautiful and emotional. As the weather was sunny and fairly warm for April, the reception took place mostly outside, on the lovely grounds at the back of the hotel. Once all the family and group shots were taken, I took the couple across the road to take some photos - we were spoiled with flowering shrubs to use as a backdrop: white cherry blossom, pink rhododendrons and yellow kerria Japonica. I got Baboucar to lift Marion is his arms and that made for some fun shots! The cake looked stunning and was delicious, thanks to the talented Julien. I left just as the party got going and felt truly grateful to have been a part of their day.
